The crucial thing with this level is to never allow yourself to have 10 energy crystals stored. This is necessary because once you get 10, the slimy slugs come and then the difficulty level increases by a large amount. The basic idea is to switch off "collect energy crystals" on your priority list, manually tell your rock raiders to pick up crystals, and drop them inside the protected area of your base. Then, once you have collected 45, switch energy crystals back on as first priority, put your rock raiders on red alert and then defend against the slugs until all 45 have been deposited.

i found this on the net and credit to whoever made it.

You know what else works, which I tried today basing off of two other tips seen on RRU:

Teleport in four(4) Rock Raiders. 1 with laser beam. Make sure 1 is trained to be a pilot. Build the Support Station and set up an electric fence around the base. Then collect energy crystals (I got fourteen) and teleport down a tunnel scout. The slugs will come so turn off the power on the support station and Teleport Pad. Leave the Teleport pad off for the whole level. Dig in the cavern below until you find the small cave with island covered in energy crystals. Send the Tunnel scout out to the island and have the pilot clear all the rubble, build a power path, and move all the materials out of the way. Back at the base, you wnat to make sure you repeatedly turn the Support Station on and off to keep the air somewhat up. Teleport out the tunnel Scout and teleport in a Tools Store on the Island. Then just defend your base while the RR collects all the crystals on the island. Took me less than fifty minutes to do it, that's with the mistake of arming my RR with a pusher beam instead of a Laser beam and making the RR's clear all the rubble in the area.

The first time i beat BtB it took almost two hours, so this time I did it in less than half the time. Also, at one point towards the end there were nine Slimy Slugs attacking my base. That was when I had the power on the Support Station. Hope this helps some people.

You guys, there is a much easier way to do this. MUCH easier.
Step 1: Reinforce everything that isn't tied down. Drill some of it for some minerals.
Step 2: Build support station right next to the tool store facing to the right. This is crucial.
Step 3: Build another building (or two) next to the support station so that it is cut off so the only way the rock raider can reach the building for a sandwich is to walk through the tool store. This is equally as crucial.
Step 4: Erect electric fence. This is important because if a monster appears you don't want your base open to attack. Don't arm anybody with a laser to do this job; you will see why in a sec.
Step 5: Go absolutely crazy with mining. I mean it. The only thing you shouldn't mine is the hard rock to the right of your base. The minute the slugs come out, cut the power to all the buildings EXCEPT the support station. Slugs won't be able to figure out where the support station is, because they can't/won't move through the tool store. This leaves a bunch of idle slugs just sitting around your base doing nothing. This is why you don't use a laser beam to kill rock monsters: They will usually go try to shoot a defenseless slug otherwise. Stick to the fence.

Doing this also solves the problem that some people have with firin their laser jacking all their crystals. With this method, the laser is not only unnecessary, but discouraged.
There. Go nuts. Take half an hour on this level now.
